busy beee......

wow have I been busy and wow have I been sick :(

ok heres the thing, Im pretty sick but Im not stopping it from letting me run. I didnt quite realise how sick I was until I met with my very pretentious (and now removed) rheumatologist. Im in the process of being diagnosed with arthritis, my whole body is pretty inflamed and painful and my fatigue levels are through the floor - Im literally hauling ass everywhere.

But none the less I am out there running - I have major goals this year and I intend to meet them. So recently I ran the Warm Your Heart 5k with Jeanne, Debs and Steve. Had a ball!!! Loved it!  Course was bendy to say the least, no fast times there I dont think. I prepared by lacing my shoes slightly differently to avoid any rolling injuries and thoroughly enjoyed it. Running indoor is fab even if the ground is pretty hard.

There was a Motoactv table which I visited and was given some freebies, sports bottle and shoe lace key carrier - thank you very much :)

The corral starts were great, everyone cheered when a particular corral set off and there was no pushing in my very over crowded corral and the bib time printer was an awesome idea and I really hope I see it again at another race I run.

Jeanne and I stuck together and ran a 40min. Jeannes first ever race after starting running only a month ago and she was brilliant! So Proud.  She didnt stop once and picked up her pace when I asked her to.

Next race Im looking forward to is the Tinley Park Running O the Green :)

Friends.......

Howdy people, check out the weather, no seriously CHECK OUT THE WEATHER! As Im sitting here typing its sunny, warmish and dry - whats up with that??? Have I moved back to England without me knowing? Cos Im pretty certain the Midwest should have some kinda serious snow cover around now???

So this week started some increase in my miles. Rocked out 6.5 with the fabulous Lori yesterday (who by the way, shows no signs of ever having 4 kids) and we never stopped talking. We ran the Tinley Running O' the Green route with an extra mile and a half and I loved every second. Its pretty hard to know how to dress in this mild weather. I dressed really warm for the snow covering at Waterfall Glen with Jeanne on Tuesday and sweated my ass off! So dressed lighter yesterday  and the wind wasnt all that kind when we arrived at the bike trail. So my gloves were on and off.

Today Im hitting a straight line of 5 miles with Steve, Im a tad sore but I love it. Last nights martial arts class involved a lot of knee lifting which burns on the hip flexors and a few sprawls woke up the shoulder muscles. :(

Im no further on reading my book so Ive decided to take it away with me this weekend and make some notes. Id love to get the new diet implemented ASAP for increased energy and an overall feeling of wellness so I must push myself to finish reading it. Im not the best reader - Id rather be DOING than sitting reading. OH well

So after my 6 miler with Michelle tomorrow Ill be on a 3 day rest weekend. Which I def need but dont really want to take.

The heel is rubbing away on the inside of my new Mizunos which Im totally pissed about so at the Mall of America Im going to get some new ones - DAMN. My feet dont like running let alone running in new shoes!!!!!

For now I have some Brooks Adrenaline and one very sore heel! Meh

Shakeology is going well, Im excited to try the new flavour (yes Brits spell flavour with a U). Weight loss to date. 6.5lbs :)

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

What a crappy week!! crappy crappy crappy!!

It started off with my sleep study on Monday which was totally weird! Being watched all night on a webcam wired up to a machine and a guy yelling at me down an intercom isnt my idea of fun! Did I sleep? of course not!!

Anyway... Ive been running regularly this week - 2-5 miles with 2 rest days. I was feeling pretty good til the temperature drastically dropped.

Today I joined the glamorous Fritz, her daughter (who has the same kicks as my daughter) and all the rest of the F'N runners for the Virtual Run for Sherry 5k. Awesome cause, the weather was arctic but the turnout was great and it was nice to see (if I could recognise anyone under all their layers) everyone out there raising awareness! I was planning to run 4 but to be honest I was so fatigued I was lucky to finish 3. Instead I decided to write messages in the snow telling everyone to stay safe. :)

So I am now on official half marathon training. My first 5 miles since my surgery went ok. Im so sluggish and lethargic at the moment that I know any longer is going to be a struggle. So driving home today I popped into Barnes and Noble and looked through the diet books. Vegan, gluten free, low cholesterol until I stumbled upon Inflammation Nation. Now I was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease so this new diet could be the key to energy and stopping all my meds - Ill keep you posted :)

Shakeology weight loss so far 6lbs :)

I must be mad!

So Ive only gone and registered for the Chicago Marathon, I must be mad I hear you cry, well you arent far wrong there!!!

As I see it if I have any serious problems completing it on the day then Ill just jump over a few barriers and skip a few blocks like everyone else does right? And then cross the finish line without a bead of sweat on my brow!!!

Hmm I dare say I will WANT to take every agonising step to finish the whole thing because it was my idea after all.
Needless to say youll more than likely find me on the bus of shame with the litter pickers with the course quickly closing behind me. Oh well

So training officially starts now *gulp*. I plan on following Hal Higdons Novice 1 guide which I have already added to my calendar and today it says run 3 miles. So have I run 3 miles? wellllll no not yet, but theres still time (I did yoga does that count?)

Ive had an unplanned break from running from last week since the onset of my floooooooooo symptoms and the new medication I have been taking. Now that Im signed up for a half and full marathon Id better get my run-on I hear you cry!! Well deep down I am very motivated I just have to let my feet know and Im sure theyll cooperate once Ive told them (oh and bought them some shiny new shoes!)

So heres to looking forward to lots of hours of pain and agony and pain and did I mention the agony? and running the Chicago Marathon cos hey its only 26.2 miles - easy right?

eurghhh.....

OK OK OK... So Im not good at writing daily blogs ... shoot me Im forgetful and busy (did I mention forgetful?)!

This week should be officially removed from my calendar or flagged "DO NOT REPEAT".  It was yucky to say the least!

So Im in the process of finding out whether Im a hyperchondriac or not. So far Ive had bloods, bloods and more bloods taken, an EMG which would normally be quite painful but I was soooooo fogged out on my prescription medication that I was in LA-LA land and Id just won the 2012 Chicago Marathon (hey it could happen!) and asleep on the neurologists table so I didnt feel a thing. And Ive been examined from head to toe - no really - head to bloody toe!!!

As more hyperchondria results are expected so far I have learnt my cholesterol is up there with Buzz Oldridge ------ way out in hyper space and my rheumatoid factor which could indicate arthritis and should normally be around 14 is 222! 222??? wtf?!?!? This could explain morning stiffness and stop me from ordering a rather expensive and totally unnecessary new mattress!!

Needless to say I havent been getting my planned mileage in booooooo :(  I have however been attending regular kickboxing classes and karate with a three mile run warm up and this week Ive had the pleasure of watching Jeni Healey and her gorgeous daughter kick ass at a ladies self defense seminar. Neither of them should be messed with - no seriously -- DO NOT APPROACH!!

Im still shaking the shakeology. Im tending to stay with the same recipe because I like it a lot and Im incorporating lots of fibre and less M&Ms into my diet. :)

spa ahhhhhhhhh....

Heck nearly a week since I last blogged. Damn.

Nothing much has happened, on Saturday me and Debs went to the spa for facials, my little christmas treat for her spending so much running time with me :) and yesterday I ran 3 and then kickboxed for 2 hours with Debs :)

I took 3 days running break and played in the snow with my girls. No slipping and sliding for me :) even though I do have yak trax. I like to do the 3,2,1 break 3 days out of a week then 2 then 1, I find it works well for my schedule and means I can keep up with my house jobs and shopping.

Ive been attending lots of doctors appointments to find out why Im sooooooo lethargic and although the comprehensive results arent back Im preparing myself for the worse.

Today I had a dermatology appointment and then I had 10 count them! 10 vials of blood taken. Testing from DNA to RA to Vit D! although I hope they dont find something if they all come back negative with my symptoms Ill be pissed! I also had post surgery therapy which I never enjoy but has to be done.

Thursday is big boss Doctor appointment downtown :( I like the doc but not driving and paying for parking in the city.

In between that I shall be ironing, running and kickboxing aslong as the fatigue lets me.

Todays shakeology recipe was the same as usual with coconut extract - yummy

Green belt

So a fairly quiet few days for me.

Took the girls sledding on Monday with Debs and her son and we had a blast. Debs introduced me to her favourite sandwich shop which I must say is pretty fantastic!!!!

I bought an Abs Circle machine in the sale. Now I dont normally buy exercise machines, but I researched this machine and it had some semi decent reviews. It was $99 down from $160 which is all I would normally want to pay and very easy for the hubster to put together. I really need to work on my core so my back will withstand the extra miles its going to get in training for the marathon. Ive been on it once and although the video that accompanies it is really crap its very easy to make up your own routine.

Ive managed to lose 3lbs on my shakeology YAY Me!

I also tested for my green belt at Karate yesterday. Bit of a surprise and I didnt feel well but I passed so thats the main thing! Bring it on attackers Im ready!

My favourite recipes this week are

handful of fresh spinach leaves, half a scoop of shakeology, half a cup of lactaid milk, half a cup of ice and either a spoonful of peanut butter, or a shake of orange, vanilla, coconut or cherry extract - YUMMY

Just heard too that skinny Debs is trying shakeology! I must admit the feeling I get from all of the ingredients is great. Not so much increased energy yet but my skin looks very healthy! Must be the chicago deep freeze LOL

Miles to date 28, gotta increase them when the snow is gone.
